How do you get work done?

Through somebody else with absolute certainty. Looking at the different things you have to do as an entrepreneur, you immediately realize that there’s so much. You have accounting, marketing, sales, and several other things in your business. They all have their importance and you want to move everything forward in a brief period. All that can be overwhelming for an entrepreneur. It’s not the fact that there’s so much to do, but that there’s a lot of it that is unknown to you. As an entrepreneur, you started out with an idea; you build the product and you sell it.

What’s difficult is all these parts built around to support it. In doing that. It gives you a little bit of a moment because you’re thinking, “Well, how do I get this all together?”. All at the same time. When most of it is unknown to you like accounting or HR, for example. All of which are in little tiny worlds of their own.

You start looking into different resources and how to do it. You realize immediately that you have to outsource. Now, when you say the word outsource, it doesn’t necessarily mean offshore or get an entire team of people. It could very simply mean getting an account or bookkeeper. This is a form of outsourcing. Hiring someone working for the organization that is not part of the organization.

The challenge with outsourcing is not the capacity or the skill because you can vet that. It’s not the rate or the cost, because you can choose. There’s a bunch of different options with different pricing models and rates and fees. Over time, you will understand what you are looking for when you outsource. This will relieve pressure from future purchases. Beyond the cost of it, beyond the comprehensiveness or the capacity of it, is the certainty of it. When we say certainty, it’s about knowing that the resource you’ve chosen is one that you can rely on. A resource that can deliver when you need it or when promised to you. Brought to you in exactly the format that you need.

In creating criteria for yourself, one thing that you need to ensure is certainty. This gives you peace of mind that the task assigned. A tip is to go into with a test period. It’s not free, you have to pay for it. Try to state in the agreement that this is a test period. If that’s not the type of structure of the engagement then you have to purchase. However, buy something low-risk, something small, and test it out. If you can, test a bunch of different categories for it. To ensure that the partner you have chosen gives you the level of certainty you need. Where the work they’re doing is to your standard as far as quality, delivery, and timeliness.

Hopefully, this article was of help in your journey of expanding your business. And looking into outsourcing has become less daunting for you.

Peace out!
